Chi-Pop Band ‘Attack the Sound’ Deliver a Doo-Wop-Inspired Sound in “Pick Up Your Phone”
May 26, 2022 - Off the heels of their latest hit “People Make Love”, Attack the Sound is back and bigger than ever with their upbeat, Doo-Wop-inspired single “Pick Up Your Phone”. A perfect fit for a live studio audience, “Pick Up Your Phone” is a high energy bop, transporting listeners back to the golden age of music. Complete with straightforward lyrics and a continuous sound, their new track is guaranteed to keep you dancing from beginning to end. While lyrically, it may feel like a break-up song, the track's message is really about the push and pull we experience in relationships. We’re all human and what draws us to one another is often unexplainable; however, we know when it’s time to put the past aside and instead, reach out for that loving embrace. The lead singer Davo Sounds displays a much more vulnerable, heart-on-sleeve storytelling that provides a very captivating level of depth in juxtaposition to the song's fun and buoyant instrumental.
“So pick up your phone, There’s something that I wanna say / That if things don’t go my way, My heart won’t go ‘stray” ~ Pick Up Your Phone
Overdue to celebrate their successes, Attack the Sound’s new hit releases off of the heels of notable performance opportunities on Chicago’s Windy City LIVE, WGN TV as well as opening for popular rapper Taylor Bennett. Fusing jazzy Hip Hop combos with rock and gospel influences, Attack the Sound has created a genre all on its own, delivering wide appeal to the increasing demand for new and unique sounds. Composed of eight experienced band members, each artist brings something uniquely captivating to the table. Their bassist Netta Sherrell is currently performing in the Broadway musical SIX and their lead singer and guitarist Davo Sounds spearheads ‘Karaoke Storytellers’ at Chicago’s Schubas Tavern where they invite artists to tell their story and match it with a song that they sing via karaoke. Active in their communities and beyond, Attack the Sound’s organic energy and robust sound is a breath of fresh air, not only for Chicago but for fans across the globe. And their new track “Pick Up Your Phone” raises the bar once again, displaying multi-dimensionality, versatility and a willingness to be vulnerable for the love of music.
