NorCal Alt-Rock Band ‘Follow Me Dark’ Invites Listeners To Explore The Extremes Of Emotion With Debut Single “As She Feeds”
October 28, 2019 - Grass Valley, California-based alternative metal band Follow Me Dark is paving a path all its own with the release of their unforgettable debut single and video “As She Feeds”. Combining a modern, psychedelic groove with a harrowing metal attack that will win over fans of Deftones, Alice in Chains, and Nirvana, Follow Me Dark comes out swinging on their first worldwide release.
With the eerie feel of Halloween in mind, the music video depicts the dark side of Mother Earth while exploring the extreme aspects of human emotion. The main character is beckoned into a strange and bizarre happening in the forest where she finds goddesses imbibing in a magical affair. The protagonist seems to be under a spell cast by supernatural forces, encouraging her to explore the sides of herself she doesn’t normally tap into - this in its essence is the very ethos of ‘Follow Me Dark’. The open invitation of introspection speaks the very spirit of the band; it’s almost as if saying “Follow me - it’s not so scary in here”.
Comprised of members Stephen Kozak (Vocals, Guitar), Sean Batinic (Guitar), Elliott Grove (Bass), and Jim Boots (Drums), the band delivers an emotional, high-octane sound with probing lyricism that is often coined “gloomy” and “cathartic”. Their music takes listeners on spiritual journeys that encourage a heroic look through the strange inner realms of human nature. The band was organically formed as the four members discovered an unanticipated musical harmony and strong interpersonal dynamic.
“There’s a tension in the music that reflects the tension of the times,” says Kozak, “And I think the question we want to ask our audience is, can you face the outer darkness as a reflection of something internal? In other words, can you embrace the darkness that is a part of you and everyone else?”
