Philadelphia Punk Rock Band Riverside Odds Confront Rock n Roll’s Biggest Vices in “Blessings From The Devil”

Listen to “Blessings from the Devil” Here

October 26, 2022 - From insane tales of Kiss frontman Gene Simmons having a cow’s tongue to the satanic panic of Judas Priest sneaking hidden messages into their songs, the devil is often depicted as the puppet master who makes the marionette of rock ‘n’ roll move. Now, Riverside Odds is here to introduce their own, intentional take. Hailing from Philadelphia’s burgeoning punk scene, Riverside Odds is back with a hard-hitting track that any visitor to rock n roll will relate to. “Blessings from the Devil” shares a glimpse of some of the darker, more vice-driven elements of the rock n roll lifestyle through a unique lens of personal accountability. Instrumentally energetic, the album explodes with stunning guitar riffs and lead vocals by original band member RW Hellborn, lead guitar by Matty Cobra, impactful bass by Eddie Spaghetti from Supersuckers and the intensity of Jorge Disguster from The Hangmen’s captivating drum lines (LIVE band includes G. Patrick Poli on bass & Ginger Knight on drums). The examples of vices displayed in their song lyrics include drinking, smoking and recreational drugs.

“May the Devil bless this bottle pressed between my lips, And bless these lines of cocaine I do between each sip, May he bless this smoke that fills up my lungs. Am I too old to die young?” ~ Blessings From The Devil

Whether it be playing songs about love and loss or of defiance and decadence, Riverside Odds’ mission has remained the same: To have fun playing rock n roll with their friends. Founded by RW and Matty in 2013, the band embarked on their first US tour in 2016, supporting the popular V8 Wankers. They extended the tour in 2017 with another ride up the east coast, followed by a milestone year in 2018 when they were signed to Altercation Records. There, they were greeted with the opportunity to play Camden, NJ’s Warped Tour and offer direct support for an increasing number of international touring bands. With several successful tours and album releases under their belt, the band takes it up a notch with each endeavor and “Blessings from the Devil” certainly does not disappoint.
