10/7/2022 - Quick to follow her wildly successful hit “Rip Tide”, recording artist Thea & the Wild is ready to announce the release date for her highly anticipated studio album “Deadheading”. Having recently uprooted her life from the city of Oslo to the Norwegian countryside, Thea’s music embodies a newly found country gaze dominated by softer edges and a welcoming nature-indie soundscape. Led by her self-taught intuitive feeling for melody, “Deadheading” delivers catchy tunes inspired by the ambiance of rural Norway. The term “Deadheading” is a gardeners word for removing withered or dead flowers from plants so that the plant can use its energy to produce new, fresh flowers. Thea’s newfound beginnings in the countryside introduce a fresh chapter, cutting the cord to her hometown of Oslo.
Having recorded the album in the garden annex with her partner Cato Salsa Thomassen (Madrugada), the new project was entirely written by Thea herself. Co-producing the album with Cato, Thea also invited the production skills of Børge Fjordheim on songs like “Little Sister” and “Stay Here My Heart”. After moving to a rural environment in the Hurum peninsula, Thea leaves the urban, Nordic pop synth focused sound on her previous album in the past while offering fans an authentic glimpse into her musical and personal growth.
“I feel an ownership over this record that I haven’t felt with past records. Being surrounded by nature is helping me grow into myself in so many powerful ways. It’s a good life.” ~ Thea
About Thea: Thea’s previous works have received critical acclaim, earning her a Spellemann (Norway’s Grammy’s) indie artist nomination as well as a spot on Rolling Stone’s Top 10 Albums to Stream in 2018. Born with a vibrantly creative DIY streak, she has engaged in music for the vast majority of her life. Whether hosting homespun radio shows as a child, mentoring young girl bands or producing her own podcasts, Thea has always looked for unique ways to let her creativity thrive. Prior to her solo debut, Thea and four girlfriends formed a band where they performed an eclectic repertoire consisting of amongst others two French punk songs and Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams”. Her first band ended up winning a ‘Best New Live Norwegian Band’ award, earning them a place on a national broadcast and a month on tour in what she calls a “posh tour bus”. Today, Thea stays the course amidst her new surroundings in the countryside, bringing her life journey more clarity and artistic autonomy than ever before.
