March 12, 2020 - Multi-talented recording artist and comedian Melanie Iglesias gears up to release her next highly anticipated single “Whateva” on March 27th. The single releases the same day as her highly anticipated EP “Context”. Coming off of a decade of immense success in the entertainment industry, Melanie is offering her fans a transparent glimpse into her personal life through honest lyrics and smooth R&B sounds. While her previous hit “L is a B” described the impact that being an influencer can have on your mental health, “Whateva” expands on the theme of toxicity & how sometimes it can lead to questionable methods of self-care. "Whateva" is my favorite song from Context because it's so raw and real. I've written my fair share of songs that discuss past toxic relationships with others but "Whateva" is about attempting to self-soothe, in sometimes not so healthy ways.” says Melanie.

Produced by Rudy Maya, the song starts with her signature introspective voicemail recording, leading into self-aware lyrics that make it clear that she’s moved on from loss, but perhaps not in the best ways.

“Monday through Friday now, I’m floatin on that loud, your memory fades with every face that I see in the crowd.”

Too busy to cope, Melanie is set on moving forward, even if it means road bumps along the way. The “whateva” component to her chorus leads listeners to believe that she may not be that happy now, but she’s getting there...and you’re invited along on her journey.

After being voted Maxim’s “Hometown Hotties” winner in 2010, Melanie went on to be featured in magazines like Worlds Most Beautiful, Esquire and Vibe as well as the special edition cover of Maxim USA. She was voted one of the “30 sexiest celebrities under 30” in Vibe and later appeared on three seasons of MTV’s The Guy Code as well as the spin off series Girl Code. Over the course of the next decade, her YouTube influencer status offered her fans a dose of personality, beauty, and most recently, incredible music.
